On World Fair Trade Day, India’s Millennium City Gurgaon saw the launch of Fair Trade India, billed as India’s first Fair Trade Brand for Shops by Fair Trade Forum India. FTF-I, working in coordination with the World Fair Trade Organization, is the national network for Fair Trade in India. Through 75 member partners, FTF-I says that it reaches out to more than 100000 grassroots level producers including artisans and farmers in India.

The launch coincided with the opening of Indha Shop in Gurgaon, a fair trade retail outlet that will retail handicraft, organic cotton bags, household fabrics and ethnic wear. Indha aims to provide women a market  outlet which will give them a fair price. According to Indraani Singh of  ‘Indha shop’, “We want to reach out to more and more consumers with our Fair Trade shop”.
